How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! Psalms 139: 17

“Hear the Word of the Lord.” If there is ever a word which we need to hear today and in the past, it is this one. God is always talking. He has the right to talk because everything He says is truth and it is life. The fact that a holy and righteous God allows us to hear His voice is a great mystery and an enormous blessing. We should be extremely thankful, stand in awe and be in fear as Moses who said that “I exceedingly fear and quake(tremble)” Hebrews 13: 21. Do you remember that the Lord Jesus would continuously say, “ He that has ears to hear let him hear”? Hearing God is not just listening to Him. Hearing God is obeying Him. But we are not obeying God. The reason we are not obeying God is the fact that we do not fear God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom/understanding. This thought came to me as I read Jeremiah 5: 21,22. It says “ Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears and hear not: Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for a bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet they can not pass over it?” Do you tremble at God’s word or do you live a life of casual Christianity? It would do us all well if we heed the word to the Hebrews in verse 29 of chapter 12. God reminds us that He is a “Consuming fire”; and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.(Hebrews 10: 31) Beloved, let us fear the Lord today and humble ourselves before Him and His word so that He may exalt us in due time and that we might recover ourselves out of the snare of the Devil.

Are you saved today? Truly this is the time of God’s anger. Jeremiah 18:23. Are you saved? Are you confident that if Christ should come today that you would be found clothed with a wedding garment? Matthew 22:12. Behold, now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation. The day you hear His voice, harden not your heart. But you say that you have not hardened your heart but God says that “ my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, (they have loved the world) and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;” They have walked after their own devices, and after the imagination of their evil heart. Jeremiah 18: 12, 15. Let us in these last days contend for the faith, which was once delivered to the saints. “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. Jeremiah 8:20.

How does one become saved? The word saved occurs in the Bible 104 times in 104 verses. (According to my quick verse for windows Bible program) From the first verse in Genesis 47: 25 till the last in Revelation 21:24, God is insisting that we need to be saved, we can be saved and that He is the only one who can save. Now in the Old Testament, Many of the times that God used the term saved He did so in the context of a historical event such as Moses being saved as a baby or the children of Israel being saved from Pharaoh. Although He used the term in this way He had a bigger picture in view. For example, God writes in Joshua 6:25 that “And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.” This actually happened and it says that Rahab the prostitute was saved. When we go the New Testament discourse about Rahab we find that these words are written in Hebrews 10: 38,39 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” Here the context is Justification (Having a right standing before God) by faith to the saving of the SOUL. In the verses to follow it names Rahab as one who
obtained this SAVING faith. “By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.” Hebrews 11:31. Then In James it says “Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?” James 2:25. So we see that the ultimate meaning of the word saved is to be justified by faith and to be found worthy enough to enter into God’s kingdom (Heaven). Now we know that the Bible says that we just have to believe in the name of the Lord Jesus and we shall be saved. Meaning, we have to confess Him as our Lord and live for Him. However, Didn’t it say that many people believed on Jesus in the Gospel of John and they were considered disciples of Jesus? In chapter 5 it says “a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.” But Jesus knew their hearts and said “ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.” John 6:26. That is why Jesus finally told them in verses 65, 66 and 67, “And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?” The key here is what Jesus says in verse 65. No man can come to Jesus to become saved unless the Father draws him or her to Jesus. It is absolutely impossible for anyone to become saved by his or her own power, effort or work. “ And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Luke 18 26,27. One of my favorite verses is found in the book of Joshua. There the people said that they would serve the Lord but Joshua responded by saying” And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.” Joshua 24:19. This truth speaks to the heart of every man alive. We cannot serve God! We are dead in trespasses and sins, we are not seeking him and we will not come to the Light that we might be saved. So what are we to do? Matthew chapter four verse 17 says “ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. “ We can start by turning away from our sins because we realize that we are sinners and that we must lose our souls as payment for our sins. But repenting does not guarantee that we will be saved nor is it a condition that has to be met in order to be saved. We must then look at Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” God uses His word to save us as the Holy Spirit applies it to our hearts. We can expect then that if we are to be saved that we must hear the word of the Lord. When we don’t want to hear the word of the Lord it is an indication that we are not saved. Oh’ the precious mystery of God; that He would suffer in the place of those whom he would save and impute His righteousness unto them and would justify them by His faith through His mighty operation which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience : Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” Ephesians 1: 20-23 and 2:1-5. Are you saved by God through Christ today or do you think you are saved by something you did?

What's the Fascination with Books? Books! Books! And more Books. As I roamed through the isles of a very large bookstore with my family, looking for summer study workbooks for my children, I could not help but to think of how so many books had been written. People obviously have a lot to say and they usually can find an audience for their opinion. It was just overwhelming, the amounts and different types of media. Surely, the gathering and delivery of information is one of man’s favorite pastimes and passion. As I thought along those lines I thought about the Bible and how it is the Word of God and how it contains and is the word of life. John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” I also thought about how it was said of Jesus that “ And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. John 21:25. I even used the computer they had set up and did a search for “The Bible”. The search came back with all types of Bible guides and books, which were not the Bible. Then my heart cried: Oh that men would find the truth and that they would do as the Jews and Greeks dwelling at Ephesus: “And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books (any idolatrous material) together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. Acts 19: 18,19. It’s funny though, as I left the bookstore my eyes spotted a book about Motor Bike racing and I immediately was drawn to it to browse through it’s pages and to reflect on my short lived pastime. The Spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak. May the Word of the Lord grow and Prevail in our hearts. Acts 19:20.

You are either for or against. You are either saved or not saved. There are only two types of people in this world. There are only two positions, two roads to walk on. Why are there only two you may ask? Well It’s because God says so. He says that “there is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:6). Therefore, we are either part of the One or by default we are part of the other. If you are truly a citizen of God’s kingdom through Christ then you and only you have the special privilege of hearing His voice. (“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27) The world and all they who are not in Christ and those who do not have His Spirit cannot and will not hear Him. No matter if you call yourself a Christian and go to church & have all the outward appearances (God sees the heart) of a righteous person you cannot hear His voice but you will continue to follow Satan’s voice. Satan is the God of this world and he sometimes sounds exactly and looks exactly like the true Christ and His Christians. (Matthew 24:24, 2 Corinthians 11:14&15, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Rev 2:24) These facts are evident when we go to the scripture and read what our Lord says about the one way and those who hear His voice. In Matthew 11: 25-27 He says, “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast r
evealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” YOU CAN ONLY KNOW THE TRUE GOD IF HE IS REVEALED TO YOU BY HIS SON. The word says again in Luke 8: 4 - 18, “ And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him, saying, what might this parable be? And he said, unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.” HAVE YOU HEARD THE WORD? ARE YOU KEEPING IT? ARE YOU BRINGING FORTH FRUIT WITH PATIENCE? DO YOU REALLY HAVE SALVATION OR DO “SEEM” TO HAVE IT? There’s more, Luke 14: 16-35, 15:1 reads ”Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, a after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.” WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE? HAVE YOU COME TO THE SUPPER? ARE YOU BEARING YOUR CROSS? HAVE YOU COUNTED THE COST? DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH BUILDING MATERIALS AND ENOUGH SOLDIERS? ARE YOU SALTY? HAVE YOU BEEN GIVEN EARS TO HEAR? ARE YOU A PUBLICAN AND A SINNER? Beloved, “ behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” If you can hear His voice do not harden your heart. Come out. Separate yourself unto the Lord. Seek your first love before he turns and fights against you. (Jeremiah 21:5) Salt is good but if it has lost its flavor…

Exposition of  Lamentations chapter 1- Part I
I knew that the prophet Jeremiah wrote the book of Lamentations and it was due to this book that he was called the weeping prophet but I never knew why he wept. In the light of the new revealed truth about the end of the church era I can now see why he was weeping. This book is filled with the end time prophecy and I by no means can understand all that is written but what I do understand I will try to explain in this short study.

The book begins with “How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people!” The city here without question is referring to the backsliding and rebellious church of today. She (the church) is called a widow, a princess and “great among the nations”. This is the same language as that in Revelation 18:10,18. This is the same city that is called Babylon. It consists of all those who remain unsaved and are part of God’s now divorced & rejected external representation of the kingdom of God.  Her friend and lovers have dealt treacherously with her and left her alone. Psalms 88:18 speak of this same loneliness and I believe that this Psalm also speaks of the end time church. Now verse three speaks of Judah that has gone into captivity. Judah is comprised of all the true believers who have escaped and come out of Babylon the great city. They are yet in the world and they are not of the world. (John 15:19)  And they (we) will be persecuted till we are almost wasted but we must and will remain faithful till the end when Christ will return and destroy our enemies. (Revelation 12: 13-17; Romans 2:7,8). The enemy will surround us, and think that he will destroy us just as the Philistines did to Samson by making a mockery of Him, but we will destroy him through Christ as Samson did to the Philistines in his death. I wrote that before I understood the info contained in the Samson study. A better example would be that of Lot being surrounded by the wicked men of Sodom. These men were blinded and then the final judgment of fire fell soon after Lot and his family left the city. Edited 1-17-04(Let him that readeth understand)

Now back to verse 4. “The ways of Zion do mourn…” The church has been weakened beyond belief primarily because God has stopped talking to them he have withdrawn His Spirit from being in their midst. Therefore their young men and their virgins are desolate and bitterness is in their souls. The world has prospered through their (the church’s) disobedience and the Lord has afflicted her because of her sins (Verse 5). The Apostle John says, “I write unto you young men because you are strong”. The Bible uses the term young men and virgins to signify strength and spiritual prosperity but the total opposite exist today. We even see this in the world- most young men of today are not as physically fit as they were years ago and a teenage virgin who can find?

Verse 6 speaks of the princes that “are become like harts that find no pasture”. This is an interesting phrase. This phrase brings to mind the verse found in Psalms 42:1 where it says that “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” This verse speaks of the natural desire, which the Lord gives to each true believer to seek the Lord and to want all of him. But then I also remember when Jesus said “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9) Jesus said that His sheep will hear His voice and they will always find pasture. So we can conclude that those who cannot find pasture are not children of God. Incidentally, The hart and the roebuck were to be eaten by both clean and unclean persons. (Deut 12:22) I think there is something here but I won’t speculate.

The enemy of the Church along with his followers mocks at her Sabbaths. (Verse 7) No longer can the full counsel of God be heard on Sunday in the churches. They are like the blind leading the blind as they fervently labor to please their own fleshly desires and not the desires of Christ. (Philippians 2:20,21). Because the New Testament church sinned and did not remain faithful to God’s word she is removed as it saith in verse 8. “ Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.” Ask any or most non-believers today what they think about the church of today and they will be quick to point out the hypocrisy and sinful secrets of the church that is widely portrayed in today’s media. Their nakedness has been uncovered. This is why the Lord says, “ For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”(Luke 8:17) Verse 9 says that “ Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.” Who is the comforter? (John 14:26) Who is the enemy and the accuser of the brethren? (Rev. 12:9,10). The Devil has spread out his hand as allowed by God upon all her pleasant places. The heathen have entered into the sanctuary and the abomination of desolation sits. (Mark 13:14). Flee to the mountains and to the wilderness my beloved.

Where are all the Christians?
Has God not sent? Has He not commanded us to go? It is such a strange thing how that you can hardly find a true Christian in the everyday paths of life? I remember when I use to go to church and the thought came to me several times that there are so many wonderful looking and speaking people gathered here but during the week you can hardly spot anyone with the glow of Christ. Why aren’t people shouting hallelujah on the grocery line or praising God in the park? Everyone looks the same, have the same expressions on their faces, carry the same worldly attitudes, watch the same movies and is entertained by the same people. God has said that we are to be holy as He is Holy. What does holiness look like? Is it just an inward holiness that does not change our outward manners, our dress, and our conversation?
My Bible tells me different. I was reading 2nd Timothy today and came across verse 7. “  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” We who know the Lord are supposed to be vessels of power. The kingdom of God is not in meat and drink but in power. (Romans 14: 17) 1 Corinthians 4: 20 says: “ For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” And again the apostle Paul says to the Thessalonians  “ For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” (1 Thessalonians 1: 5)

Where is the power today? Where is the love for our neighbor? Are we actively declaring and sharing the word of God by which we believe that we are saved? Do we find ourselves having to tell people about the hope that is in us because they see a difference in our lives? (1 Peter 3:15) Shouldn’t we have the Word on our cars, motorcycles, baby strollers and everyplace so that the dying and lost can see it and become saved by God’s grace?

Today a car pulled up next to mine and the driver smiled at me because I had smiled at him. Then I looked at him again and he smiled a little more and gestured to say hi to me. Now I know that there was nothing wrong with my smile and that I did it with the love of Christ on my mind but I wondered within myself why he was smiling. Was he also filled with the Spirit and happy in the Lord or was his heart somewhere else? God forbid.
Are we all hypocrites hiding behind the worldly theology of conformity and political correctness? Do we fear man rather than God?

When God asked Isaiah “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah said, "Here am I" send me. And the Lord said, “Go…!” We need to stop hiding behind religious protocol and behind our allegiance to Christian missions and even the fact that we support and listen to family radio. God is calling you to be His ambassador to your neighbors. When I began writing this thought I had my feet soaking in some almost-hot water but now the water has become lukewarm and I am very uncomfortable. Read Revelation 3: 15 to 19 and you will understand why I mentioned that. My prayer is, dear Lord, Forgive me for not letting my light shine, forgive me for being afraid of men, help me to be an example and not be ashamed of you and your word, help me also to fight against sin in my life. Dear Lord, work in my heart that I might be obedient to you and find joy in pleasing You. And Lord, Please help all of my brother and sisters in Christ to be strong in you and do the same. In Jesus’ name; Amen.

When will it end?

As I sat in my car waiting by the railroad crossing I wondered when the passing train would end so that I could continue on my journey. A time before this I had waited for 102 train cars to pass and that had took a while. But as I thought about that I found myself wondering, what if the train was on a circular track, which I couldn’t see, and the passing train would never really end? I then thought about hell and destruction and how it is going to be a never-ending judgment upon the soul just like a train on a circular track. I then thought about infinity and how it was a physical sign or concept, which was given to us so that we could see, the reality of something that never ends. What’s the biggest number? There’s none; you can always add one more number. For those who have to lose their souls(life/existence), (Mark 9:43,44) it will be the greatest tradegy of all. (2 Thessalonians 1:9, Daniel 12:2)

_______6-26-03
Does He know you?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:23) Many people claim to know the Lord, and that’s fine and dandy. However, the true value of our salvation lies not in the fact that we know the Lord (although, this is a precious gift that God gives to His elect) but it lies in the fact that He knows and foreknew us. Paul caught himself once or should I say the Holy Spirit reminded him of this fact when he penned Galatians 4:9. This fact that God has to know us before we are saved should not be taken lightly. This knowledge is such an intimate thing that God refers to the sexual act between a man and woman as “knowing”. (Gen 4:1)
If you are known of God today and if you know Him then you are precious in his sight.

The Apostle John puts it this way: “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). I want to be one of those to whom Christ says, “ Enter into the Joy of the Lord”(Matt 25:21) and not one to whom he says, “depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”(Matt 7:23) Thank you Lord for knowing me and allowing me to know you. “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me…”(Jeremiah 9:24) Do you know him today?

Exposition of  Lamentations chapter 1- Part II
Continuing from verse 10 we read: “The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things : for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.” We know that Satan is the adversary of the believers according to 1 Peter 5:8. Satan has begun his vicious attack upon the church and has entered into the sanctuary much like the Babylonians entering into Jerusalem in Jeremiah chapter 39. This entering in is the same prophecy that is fulfilled in Daniel 8:13 and also in 2 Thessalonians 2: 3,4. Verse 11 speaks of the people “seeking bread”. All the people left in the local congregations are seeking bread. They are seeking the bread of prosperity, the bread of health, physical healing, signs, wonders and other idols. Bread in the Bible signifies the word of God or truth but they are not seeking the true bread, they have heaped to themselves “teachers having itching ears”(2 Timothy 4:3). They also “are teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matt 15:9)

Therefore, God has sent leanness into their souls (Psalms 106: 15) and He also shall “send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”(2 Thessalonians 2:11) for they “received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2: 10.
Just like Esau, they sold their birthright (pleasant things) for a bowl of soup (meat).

In the Bible, God sometimes causes His prophets to use their bodies as an example of someone else or to teach a specific spiritual or moral teaching or sign. For example, in the book of Ezekiel Chapter 4, God tells Ezekiel to lie on his left side for 390 days to “bear” the sin of Israel. In Lamentations Chapter 1 verses 11-22, God uses the voice of Jeremiah to represent the voice of the end time church, which is under the judgment of God.   The church begins to speak by saying that she is vile. She is filled with sorrow upon sorrow because of the fierce anger of the Lord. (Verse 12) Fire is in her bones, she is turned back and has become faint & desolate all day long (Verse 13). In verse 14 the word says that the church has been delivered up to Satan by God and it cannot rise. Verse 15 speaks of the confusion and unprofitable labor of the pastors, priest, deacons, and leaders within the churches. Therefore she weeps and her eyes run down with tears.

Because the comforter (Holy Spirit) is no longer in the midst, Satan has prevailed (Verse 16), Zion (The fallen church) seeks for someone to comfort her but there is none. (Jeremiah 4:31). The world and they that dwell in the earth now have great disdain and scorn for the church. Is it fair that the Lord has done this? Why is he so angry? The Lord does not afflict the children of men willingly, He does not delight in crushing us but our own sins has caused His face to be hidden from us. The Lord says, “how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.”(Matt 23:37,38). Through the voice of Jeremiah, Zion confesses that He (The Lord) is righteous. So shall every knee bow and every tongue confess on the last day (Judgment day) that Jesus is Lord. (Romans 14:11) Then those who do not become saved will have no other choice but to confess their rebellion against the commandments of God.

How sad is the language of verses 19-21? Imagine a dejected woman stripped of all her clothes calling for her former lovers and friends but no one will come to her. The priest and elders (Church leaders and teachers) are dying as they seek things that do not satisfy (Ezekiel 7:19). My bowels, my bowels. (Jeremiah 4:19) Verse 21 says that “ they have heard that I sigh:” The enemy is glad and rejoices but the Devil and all his children will be destroyed like the church on that day which the Lord has called. (Judgment day). Verse 21. Lord, Deliver us from this evil and lead us not into this great temptation. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever, Amen.

Repent- A most beautiful word!

One of the most intriguing and beautiful words found in the Bible is the word Repent. Repent was one of the first words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ. In His introductory message, at the beginning of His preaching ministry, Jesus cried "repent ye"(Matthew 3:2) The word repent is defined as - to turn from sin and resolve to reform one's life 2: to feel sorry for (something done): REGRET (c) 2000 Zane Publishing, Inc. and Merriam-Webster, Incorporated . I have always thought that the word means to turn away from one's sins and wrongdoing and to say sorry to God. Even more than saying sorry, it requires deliberate action in doing the opposite of the wrong behavior that made you sorry in the first place. For example, in Acts 19:19 the new believers in Ephesus burned their books to show repentance; and Zacchaeus, in Luke 19:8, gave half of His goods to the poor.

I recently did a word study of the word repent in the Bible (KJV) and found some wonderful truths as God opened my spiritual eyes to it's meanings. The word is found in its usual forms as repent, repented, repentance and repenteth. Before I site a few of the passages that stood out to me I would first like to explain why I feel the word is so beautiful. The word is a wonderful word because it gives us (sinful man) the hope of being able to please God. It is a word of empowerment and it displays the mercy of God. If God had never uttered such a word we would be utterly condemned to a life of turning away from God. But thanks be to God, We can now turn to God as we repent. Now before we get puffed up and think that we can repent whenever we want to, let me dispel this myth right away. We may be able to feel sorry because of a guilty conscience but the repentance that leads to eternal salvation is a gift of God. God has to give us true repentance first before we can repent. (2 Timothy 2:25) Unless God causes us to repent we will never repent. We see a dramatic reverse picture of this as God hardened Pharaoh’s heart from letting His people go.  (Exodus 10:1)

Now why would God command us to repent if He knows that we don't have the capacity within ourselves to repent? Primarily because God calls those things that are not as though they be. (Romans 4:17) He looks thought time and space and sees the fulfillment of his promises and commands in Christ. Because repentance and salvation are gifts that we receive because of Christ's work, God can make statements like " Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" and  “Repent" because these actions are completed in Christ for us. (“and you are complete in Him ” Col 2:10)(Those who will be saved).

Now I have here in front of me six pages with about 103 verses containing various forms of the word repent as found in the Bible. At the same time, I'm watching my three kids as they watch a video. They will need my attention when the movie is over so I will have to cut this study short. (Let him that has kids understand) Here’s what I'll do, I'll pick out a few verses and make a short comment on the verse.

Exodus 13: 17- Repent here means to change one's mind because of fear.

Numbers 23:19- God does not lie or repents as men do.

Deuteronomy 32: 26- God reserves the right to change His mind because of His mercifulness but when He does so it's not because He has made a mistake.

Job 42:6 when we really see ourselves, as we really are before God it causes us to repent.

Psalms 110:4- there was no chance of repentance (changing His mind) in God concerning sending His son to bear the wrath of God for us.

Jeremiah 26:3 - "If they will hear" This is a big "if" because it's conditional upon God making them hear. (John 12:40)

Ezekiel - 18: 30- this is God's message to His people today. Especially to those who are still trusting in the church and it's unbiblical doctrines.

Mark 1: 15- If Jesus started here then we should also. Let's tell the world why they need to repent before it's no longer the day of salvation.

Luke 13: 3- this is what happens when we don’t repent.

Luke17: 4- We should be quick to say sorry when we have done wrong to others and we should be quick to forgive them for their wrongs if they repent. (Say sorry)

Acts17: 30- the command to repent is given to all men everywhere.

Matthew 3: 8- if you have truly repented then there will be evidences of this in your life.

Matthew 9 13: Jesus says that this is the reason He came.

Acts 11: 18- Repentance unto life has to be granted by God.

Acts 20:21- It's an integral part of the true gospel. People are not told to repent anymore but to simply "Come to Christ". How sad.

Romans 11:29- God will not and cannot change His mind when He decides to save you and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Halleluiah)

1 Samuel 15:11- God was made sorry by king Saul’s disobedience.

Luke 15: 10- God and the angels are happy when we repent.

Revelation 9:20- for all of God's mercy and all of the ruin which man suffers because of his sins he still will not repent.

May the Lord grant you repentence unto life today.

God is not slack.

God is not Slack concerning His promise of bringing the wickedness of the wicked to an end. (Psalms 7:9) Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. (Ecclesiastes 8:11) Some people seem to get away with murder in this life but unless they become saved they will remain in hell and thrown into the lake of fire. Even those in the churches today are relaxing and thinking that they can continue building more and bigger churches. They seem to be prospering in the world and saying to themselves that God is returning but He’s delaying His coming so let us eat drink and be merry. (Matt 24:48) These are they that sit down to eat and drink and rise up to play. (Exodus 32:6 & 1 Cor.10: 7)

If you are not watching for the coming Day of Christ read

Zephaniah Chapter 1 Verses 12-18 and Chapter 2: 1-3

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
14  The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15  That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16  A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
17  And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
18  Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
2:1  Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.
3    Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.

Ezekiel 11:3 points to the fact that there are those who also say “it is not near”
And they say,  “He seeth not” (Job 22: 13,14). But God in time past has winked at this scoffing:   (And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.)(Acts 17: 30,31)

Beloved, we are in the very last days when this prophecy spoken of here by Peter is being fulfilled:

2 peter 3: 3-18
3  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7  But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14  Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16  As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18    But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Work, Work, Work…

Being on vacation and not having to work is a real joy. Even though my wife calls it laziness, I greatly rejoice in this period of rest just to be home with my kids and to do the regular fatherly/motherly chores. As I thought about work I realized that it is one of the purposes for which God created man. We were not created to do nothing but we were endowed by our Creator with His creative and travailing power. Slothfulness or laziness as we call it, is looked down upon in many a proverb. For example, Proverbs 21:25 says,   “The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.”
Now when Adam was created he was given the task of taking care of the garden God had planted in the east of Eden. He was given certain chores such naming all the animals in the world (I guess it was a big chore), and was even given a wife to help with the duties of his sublime life. I’m sure that before Adam disobeyed God that he probably identified with the words of Solomon who said, “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” (Eccl 2:24 KJV)

Unfortunately, when Adam sinned, He was suddenly hit whit the fact that what he was doing was not “real work”. Trimming the rose busses and planting a few potato plants was not real work because God gives the increase. That’s why the Apostle Paul said that he that plants and he that waters is nothing but God gives the increase. It is like making children; we have a little fun but God gives the life to the child at conception, then the hard work begins. Jesus also echoed the same truth when He said “I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours. (John 4:38 KJV)  ”

Here is what God told Adam:

(Gen 3:17-19 KJV)  And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Now Adam could identify with Solomon when He said “Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.” (Eccl 2:11 KJV)

From that point on, the sons of Adam (man) have been working hard to provide for themselves and their families and also have been working hard to try to make amends with God. But the harder we work to please God we find that we can never attain unto the perfection that he desires.” Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Mat 5:48 KJV)

Work, Work, Work, all we ever do is work. But the wonderful truth that gets us out of this dilemma is to realize that God rested on the seventh day. The way to please God is not to work at it by trying to keep laws, but to rest in the work that He has done through Christ Jesus whom He raised from the dead. We who are saved have entered into His rest. “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His (Heb 4:10 KJV).” The people asked Jesus what must they do to do the works of God. In other words, what must we do in order to please God?  Jesus replied to them that they must believe on Him who God sent and that this was the work of God (John 6: 29) And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? (Heb 3:18 KJV) So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. (Heb 3:19 KJV)

My dear Christian Bother or Sister, “rest with me”(2 Thessalonians 1:7) But do not rest by saying to yourself “…Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”(Luke 12 19-21)

Now that we are saved, the work does not stop. We must work by faith as we labour in the vineyard with Christ and when the Great Reaper appears we will be able to rejoice with Him. We are warned, “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. (Heb 4:1 KJV) “… be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Heb 6:12 KJV)

If you are saved then you are in His rest. Praise God for the Sabbath and the Lord of the Sabbath.

Urgent Warning!
Isn’t it amazing that everything that’s happening within your computer right now is based on either a 1 or a 0? That’s right, Binary code; the basic building block of digital information is a bunch of 1’s and 0’s. To put it in other words, there are two states. Something is either on or off, yes or no, true or false, right or in error. So it is in the kingdom of God.
Therefore we are warned:

(2 Pet 2:1 KJV)  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

(1 John 2:18 KJV)  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

(1 John 2:19 KJV)  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

(1 John 2:20 KJV)  But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

(1 John 2:21 KJV)  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

(1 John 4:1 KJV)  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

(Luke 6:26 KJV)  Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

(Mark 13:22 KJV)  For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

(Mark 13:23 KJV)  But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

(Mat 24:11 KJV)  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

(Mat 24:12 KJV)  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

(Mat 24:13 KJV)  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

(Mat 24:14 KJV)  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

(Mat 7:13 KJV)  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

(Mat 7:14 KJV)  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

(Mat 7:15 KJV)  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

(Mat 7:16 KJV)  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

(Mat 7:17 KJV)  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

(Mat 7:18 KJV)  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

(Mat 7:19 KJV)  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

(Mat 7:20 KJV)  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

(Mat 7:21 KJV)  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

(Mat 7:22 KJV)  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

(Mat 7:23 KJV)  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

(Psa 52:1 KJV)  To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

(Psa 52:2 KJV)  Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

(Psa 52:3 KJV)  Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

(Psa 52:4 KJV)  Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

(Psa 52:5 KJV)  God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

(Acts 13:6 KJV)  And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

(Acts 13:7 KJV)  Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

(Acts 13:8 KJV)  But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

(Acts 13:9 KJV)  Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

(Acts 13:10 KJV)  And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

(Acts 13:11 KJV)  And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

(2 Cor 11:26 KJV)  In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

(Gal 2:4 KJV)  And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

(Rev 20:10 KJV)  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Swimming.
Today my son finished his aquatods swimming class. As I held him up in the water and swam with him it made me think of how our heavenly Father gets in there with us and keeps us from drowning by holding us up with His powerful arms.

(Deuteronomy 33:27 KJV)  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

The end of the church age in the Life of Saul- Part 1

Here is the General overview:

Eli had two sons. Their wickedness was the cause of the destruction of themselves, their father and their decedents. Their lives and actions represented ancient or national Israel who was rejected by God. Samuel was the priest of the new covenant or represented Christ, as He became the head of the New Testament Church.
Samuel also had two sons who were wicked. The number two usually represents the church and those that are ordained bring the gospel.
Now the people in Samuel’s day asked for a king. In the same way, we of today’s church have chosen to have our idols and false gospels instead of the true gospel and Christ. Therefore God says “And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” (1 Sam 8:7 KJV)

But God does not destroy them out right as he did to Eli and His sons but gives them what they wanted and added a warning of what will happen when they got a king.
God then through a chain of interesting events set up Saul to be the King. Saul was not saved but appears to be saved just as Satan is looking like Christ as He and His ministers of righteousness rule in the congregations and churches throughout the world. (2 Cor 11:15)  The next part of this study will show how God Sets up Saul to be the king .

What’s your Water pot?
In John chapter four it tells us of a woman who had an encounter with Jesus the messiah. This woman had five husbands and was now going with a man who was not her husband. She was in all likelihood a sinner (as we all are). However, on that one special day she met someone who would change her life forever. She was so excited about receiving the living water, that she left her waterpot and ran and told the men of her city what was revealed to her by her new found Friend.
Have you left your waterpot today or are you still clinging unto those things that can only make you thirst again? Is your waterpot money? Is it sex? Is it gambling, your kids, home, friends, parties, education, church, and cars? In these days when iniquity abounds and the love of many have grown cold, Jesus still says: “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”(Luke 9:23 KJV)  We have to leave everything at the well and let the dead bury their dead because the temptation is great to take it easy and to stay busy with the things of this world. “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”(Luke 21:34 KJV)

If you are sure you’re saved and you are doing your Father’s will then you will experience persecution and suffering. (2 Tim 3:12, Phil 1:29, Acts 14:22) Don’t be afraid; don’t worry. You have nothing to lose. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. (Luke 21:18 KJV)
In your patience possess ye your souls. (Luke 21:19 KJV)

Are you homeless?
I write this thought in all humility giving all credit and motive for this discussion to God. (Eph 3:20 & Phil 2:13)
Today, as I left a local pharmacy I came across a homeless person with a sign. As I walked pass her I remembered the scripture that said :(Mat 24:12 KJV) “and because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold”. And I also remembered the word to not to fear.  “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, be not afraid, only believe.” (Mark 5:36 KJV)

I then got my new testament and humbly walked over to the lady with the desire to share with her the story of the woman at the well. (I had recently read this). I asked her a few questions about herself and her present homeless condition. While we were talking a store manager came out and told her that she could not solicit outside of the store. Hearing this, I thought that it was over, but the Lord led me to ask her if I could read some scripture with her. She said yes and we immediately went to a location where we could read the word of God. Trusting that God is the Savior and that He uses His word to save I read to her the story of the woman at the well and explained to her the gospel. I made sure I spoke to her about hell and eternal damnation under the judgment of God. With that said, I told her that I would pray for her and then I let her go on her way. Oh, before she left I did give her a few dollars for her to buy some food. I was glad that I was able to give her the true food first. Many people have misunderstood James 2: 15,16 when it comes to this matter of giving.

My brethren, I encourage you as also the Lord, Go out into the highways and byways and preach the gospel to the poor, condescend to men of low estate, go to the blind lame and halt because they that are whole (appear to be) do not need the physician. The  “good” people will not hear. Only God’s elect will hear. “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” (John 5:40 KJV)
I pray that the lady I spoke to was one of God’s elect and that He would provide many more opportunities such as this one. May the Lord have mercy on me, a most unworthy servant.

__________7-28-03
Clean your plate!
Most of us don’t like to eat vegetables. There is usually something that we find distasteful and we end up scraping it to the side of our dinner plate. We have unfortunately taken on this same attitude and fallen into this temptation when it comes to hearing from the word of God. Paul speaks of those who in the last days (we are in them now) will turn away from the truth and heap to themselves “teachers, having itching ears;” (2 Tim 4:3 KJV).
In contrast to having itching ears, those who fear God and hear of Gods judgment to come will have tingling ears. (2 Ki 21:12 KJV)  Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. (See also: 1 Sam 3:11, Jer. 19:3) I guess people would rather have the itching of the ears rather than the tingling.

What am I getting at? It’s this; We Christians want to hear verses such as: (1 John 4:8 KJV) …  for God is love, (Rom 8:28 KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose;
(Rom 8:39 KJV)  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord; and (Phil 4:13 KJV) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. These are the deserts of the faith indeed. But what about the vegetables? What about verses like: (Mat 6:24 KJV) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon; (Luke 6:26 KJV) Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets; (Mat 16:25 KJV) For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it; (John 12:25 KJV) He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal; (1 Sam 15:23 KJV) For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king, and (1 Sam 15:22 KJV) And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Are not God’s warnings a necessary ingredient for a healthy and balanced diet? Oh, may God help us to clean our plates. If you are just seeking that abundant life in this world and are not taking thought of your heavenly vault then you are being deceived. The things of this world are temporal. My wife just told me of a group in Africa who have a tribal tradition of eating as much as they can in order to see who can become the fattest. This is done, I suppose, to see which one is truly blessed. One man ate so much that his stomach burst open. He was applauded for his efforts and was given an honorable burial. Be careful of what you eat, why you eat and how much you eat.

Pride can be a  debacle.

Woe unto those that think they have the end of the church age all figured out.
Woe unto those that have an answer for every question. Brethren, We must walk humbly and meekly when it comes to handling the word of life. Do you think that you are smart? (Ezek 28:3 KJV)  Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:” The devil has been around long before you and (Job 41:34 KJV) He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride. (James 4:10 KJV)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
(1 Pet 5:6 KJV)  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Do not think that what has happened to the corporate church cannot happen to you as you meet in you chat rooms and “special” groups.

Shout for Joy!
Bless the Lord ye saints of His. Ye are his chosen seed, a people who can do no sin. (1 John 3:9 KJV)  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Oh how wonderful it is to know that Christ is all we need. In these days when men’s heart are failing for fear of the coming judgment, we who know that we are saved are given the precious promises of Isaiah 33:17 “Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.” We can see Jesus as Lord in our souls; we can see Him exalted and beautiful as he works out His plan of salvation in our lives. We can also see that land of glory that is “very far off”. Therefore we seek that city whose builder and maker is God.
We are commanded to look to Zion (the spiritual rock) when we see that the Church age has ended. There we will find rest and be of a contrite spirit. For there the Lord will perform all the tasks that are needful for our sanctification. (Ezek 45:17 KJV)  And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
This eternal Jerusalem that we have entered into shall never be removed according to verse 20 of Jeremiah 33. Verses 16 and 21 tell us that we will enjoy unfailing bread and the streams of the Lord shall flow there. The churches will not be there nor will they be needed, “thy tacklings are loosed ” and they can no longer “ spread the sail”.
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. (Isa 33:22 KJV)  Do not say that you are sick beloved. Your sins are forgiven you for His sake. (Isa 33:24 KJV)  And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. Stay in the Lord’s ship. This ship is headed for glory. Amen.

When the lights go out.

Have you ever experienced an electrical power failure? I’m sure you have. There are two things that one immediately reflects upon after having gone through such an experience. The first is the thought of how much we take for granted when the power is on. We are almost programmed to think that the refrigerator and microwave oven will always be operational.

When my power recently went out, I found myself walking into dark rooms and searching for the light switch even though I knew that the power was out.

The second thing that we think about is how the comfort of our lives are dependent upon others and upon powers that are outside of ourselves. God has rightly said that “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. (Rom 14:7 KJV)” This is like the saying; “ No man is an island”.  Let us not take people for granted today. The Lord has given us people in our lives so that we may glorify Him by the way we interact with them. The good, the kind, the indecent, the immoral, the loving, the unforgiving, whatever shape or form they come in, God has given them to us. (Mat 5:16 KJV)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We are commanded to:

Love them:    Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. (Lev 19:18 KJV)

Bear their burdens:     Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Gal 6:2 KJV)

Do good to them:     As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Gal 6:10 KJV)

Save them (by sharing the Gospel of course):    To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. (1 Cor 9:22 KJV)

Where are your clothes?

In the Gospel of St. John Chapter 21 we find a remarkable story that occurred by the sea of Tiberias. Take a few seconds and read this chapter. You will be blessed.
Why was Peter naked? Was this the norm for fishermen of his day? Jesus had risen from the dead and had told his disciples to wait for the promise from on high. Apparently, the disciples did not realize when that would be and what was the true nature of their calling and so they returned to their normal lifestyle of hanging out and catching fish. Had Peter forgotten Jesus’ command to him when He said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”? (Matthew 4:18)

The Lord took this opportunity to teach us a few things. The first lesson that is taught in this story is the fact that if we are doing things our own way and not by the command and guidance of Christ then our efforts will be fruitless. It might appear to us and to others that we are doing God’s work but to God it will be vanity. Remember the words of Jesus, “ without me you can do nothing. “ Not a little or some things but “nothing”. Those who fall into this snare ultimately fulfill this scripture: They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. (John 16:2 KJV)

This is why, in the story, Jesus had to command the disciples to cast in the net on the “right” side of the boat. Another lesson that is learned from this historical parable is the fact that Peter here is a picture or type of the end time church condition and of those who remain in it. They are naked, not watching, and they appear shameful as they stubbornly resist and wrest the scriptures instead of feeding the sheep. (2 Peter 3:16; Jer 23:1) In Revelation, Christ says, “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” (Rev 16:15 KJV)  We who are saved are clothed with Christ’s righteousness but those who are not are trying to cover their shame with their own fisherman’s coat or their own fig leaves, as did Adam and Eve.
In Isaiah 47:3, we read “Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.”

This is why it behooves us to be ever watchful and prayful because the Lord is at hand. We must arm ourselves and fight against sin (Heb. 12:4) until Christ completes His perfect redemption in us. So keep your clothes on and put on your armor which is the Lord Himself because “Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.” (Psa 33:20 KJV)

Therefore we read:

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.  For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (2 Cor 4:18; 2 Cor 5: 1-10)

Where is the house of the Lord?

Now that there is no literal house of the Lord into which we can enter peaceably, what are we to do about those verses that speak of the house of the Lord? What is the house of the Lord? What can we liken the house of the Lord to or what is the congregation of the righteous?

Since there is no house of the Lord, due to the fact that the Lord has abandoned the church (external, non-eternal body of Christ which is made up of all local congregations that are named after Him) and is no longer in their midst (Amos 2:3), How can we understand verses that mention the house of the Lord in these end times?

Are verses like “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple” and “A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psa 27:4 KJV) & (Psa 122:1 KJV) no longer applicable to the true believer? I trow not.

When the gentiles destroyed the temple of God did the worship of God cease? Is God limited to a building? No way. For He Himself says “Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?” (Isa 66:1 KJV)  And again “But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!” (2 Chr 6:18 KJV)

The fact is that if we understand the house of the Lord is actually referring to the word of the Lord, we will then find scriptural harmony. God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) We know that the word of God is spirit (John 6:63), and the word of God is also truth (John 1: 14) and (John 17:17). The bible teaches us that we can be IN Jesus Christ and He can be IN us (John 15:4).

If you therefore then substitute the phrase “ word of God” wherever you see the phrase “the house of the Lord”, and if the context allows it, then you will be pleased to see that the house of the Lord still exist and will exist forever. The house of the Lord, the tabernacle of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the sanctuary of the Lord and the congregation of the Lord is the word of God – The bible.

Having come to this understanding, let us now ponder and meditate on these verses:

(Psa 61:4 KJV)  I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

(Psa 73:17 KJV)  Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

(Prov 18:10 KJV)  The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

(Psa 134:1 KJV)  A Song of degrees. Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.

(Psa 23:6 KJV)  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

A bed of straw.

“Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.” Where have you heard a statement like that before in the bible? Oh yes, in (Mat 25:9 KJV) “But the wise answered, saying, not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.” The foolish virgins lamps had gone out because they had no more oil. “And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.” (Mat 25:8 KJV)

This is the same situation that exists today. On one hand you have those that are truly saved and have the true oil of God’s salvation and on the other hand you have those who are in the churches who look like true believers but they have no savior or salvation. These are they who are trusting in their Own Works. The term your works is an interesting one. It is found three places in the bible and in each case it refers to some aspect of the end to the church age.

We first see it in Exodus 5:13 where Pharaoh who is a picture of Satan, tells the Israelites to “Fulfil YOUR WORKS,” by completing their works as when they had straw. In other words, Pharaoh was being very cruel to them even as Satan will be very cruel to those who remain in the church during the great tribulation period. (Dan 8:24 KJV)  And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

The next place that it is found is in Ezekiel 6:6. “In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and YOUR WORKS may be abolished.” Finally, in (Rev 2:23 KJV), “And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to YOUR WORKS.”

So God will destroy those Christians who are not saved (by grace alone) and who will have nothing to show Christ but their own works on the last day (Judgment day). Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (2 Cor 11:15 KJV)

And so we have it; God has established his external representation of the kingdom of God on earth (The new testament church), and he has now abandoned it because of the hardness of their hearts and so that scripture may be fulfilled.

The Lord says of the church:

(Rev 2:21 KJV)  And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she
 repented not.

(Rev 2:22 KJV)  Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit
adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

(Amos 6:1 KJV)  Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain
of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel
 came!

(Amos 6:2 KJV)  Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath
the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these
kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?

(Amos 6:3 KJV)  Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of
 violence to come near;

(Amos 6:4 KJV)  That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their
couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of
 the stall;

(Amos 6:5 KJV)  That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves
 instruments of music, like David;

(Amos 6:6 KJV)  That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief
ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

(Amos 6:7 KJV)  Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go
captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

(Amos 6:8 KJV)  The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of
hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I
deliver up the city with all that is therein.

(Amos 6:9 KJV)  And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house,
 that they shall die.

(Micah 2:1 KJV)  Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their
beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power
 of their hand.

(Jer 8:5 KJV)  Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual
backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

(Jer 8:6 KJV)  I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented
him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his
course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.

(Rev 2:22 KJV)  Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit
adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Get out of the bed of straw before it’s too late. What is straw to fire?

Do you pray for your kids?

(Luke 18:1 KJV)  And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
God tells us that Job prayed continually for his children.
(Job 1:5 KJV)  “And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.” [Every day]

Pray also for your spouse. Before you do this, make sure that you are holding no grudge against them and that your conscience is clear of any wrong doing. (1 Pet 3:7 KJV)  Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

(1 Pet 4:8 KJV)  And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

A child’s talents

Today I shared (preached) the parables of Jesus concerning His return to judge the world, which are found in Matthew Chapter 25, with my three kids. We had a beautiful time of fellowship filled with questions, scolding for inattentive playfulness, singing, reading and prayer.  The story of the three men who each received some talents (money) from their lord who was going on a journey was well received by my 5-year-old Sara.

While sitting at the dinner table, I noticed that she had three coins in her hand. She held a nickel, a dime and a quarter. When I asked her why she had the coins she said to me frankly, “Because I don’t want to go to hell”. I was touched by her godly fear that she gained from our discussion of the parable in Matthew. May the Lord help us all to increase our talents and be sensitive to His word!

He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. (Mat 25:22 KJV)

Reverence Jesus's name

Oh the precious name of Jesus! We should never take the name of God lightly. God’s name is holy. When referring to the Lord we should not just utter His name in any casual manner. We ought to reverence God’s name(s). Would we call out to the president or a dignitary and say, “hey you” or call them by their first name? Don’t we give our parents respect by not calling them by their first name? We should refer to Him as the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no scripture that tells us how we should refer to Christ but we can find examples of how it is used in the New Testament. Although He is a friend to us He still is our master and Lord. .  He is the Lord of Host! He is our King. Give the Lord the respect and Glory due His name.

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. (1 Chr 16:29 KJV)

Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you,
(Lev 22:32 KJV)

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
(1 Chr 16:10 KJV)

Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.
(Psa 99:3 KJV)

He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
(Psa 111:9 KJV)

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
(Psa 138:2 KJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(John 1:1 KJV)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 KJV)

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
(John 1:17 KJV)

Reverence the precious name of Jesus- The Lord Christ.
